ECGBL 2014

The 8th European Conference on Games Based Learning, hosted by Research and Training Center for Culture and Computer Science (FKI), University of Applied Sciences HTW Berlin, Germany. Good games provide great experiences. They motivate players to play them for mastery, exploration, social bonding, narrative pleasure, imagination, competition or walking the edge of losing control. Games are played in short bursts or long sessions. In the spare time, while commuting, in breaks and at work. Good games may even alter your views and perceptions. ECGBL 2014 will offer an opportunity for the presentation of research, theory, application, practice and validation in the field of Game-Based Learning. The 2nd International Educational/Serious Games Competition will be hosted at the conference in Berlin, too. Call for papers will close on 20th March 2014. The conference committee welcomes contributions on a wide range of topics using a range of scholarly approaches including theoretical and empirical papers employing qualitative, quantitative and critical methods. Action research, case studies and work-in-progress/posters are welcomed approaches. PhD Research, proposals for roundtable discussions, non-academic contributions and product demonstrations based on the main themes are also invited.
